Fancy doing the Gothic look …

… even though black may not be your best colour? Black is by many considered a safe, slimming colour and is undeniably very accessible in that you can always count on it being available one way or another in the shops. That is most definitely the case this year – don’t think I have ever seen so much black fashion around. Has it maybe got something to do with the sombre overall mood presently affecting our society?

Whatever benefits one perceive black to have, the fact is that a lot of people don’t actually suit black. Not that this should stop you from wearing it if that’s what you want to do – it’s a free world and you do anything you like. Personally I don’t wear black anymore – I used to but have now seen the light and there are just so many more “fun” colours out there to choose from.

Must admit, however, that I quite like the Gothic-inspired look currently in vogue. Please note the inspired bit in the last sentence, the full-blown version is not really my thing. So here’s for some useful advise if black is not one of your best colours, but you still want to wear it. Make sure that you keep black away from the immediate area around your face – think tube top distance or deep cleavage. Alternatively, wear something like a shirt / T-shirt, jewellery or a scarf in your best colours between your face and the black garment. That should ensure that you pull black off to your best advantage.

I definitely agree with you! Although I’m not a fan of the real thing, this toned down inspiration has a really romantic and sexy look. Dark classy is mysterious.
